What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

I saw Zeta Beta Tau as place where I could grow and develop into a man and a leader. A place where I would be surrounded by men who will push each other academically, socially, philanthropically, mentally and professionally.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

Being surprised on Facebook Live with this scholarship. I was so surprised I was speechless. It was a rush of not being able to comprehend the generosity of so many of my brothers, most of which I do not know personally. I was overcome with this sense of being connected to a long-lasting tradition and legacy.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

Thank you. Zeta Beta Tau would not be the place it is without you and your hard work and dedication.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

This scholarship from the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation will push me harder to truly live by the credo and encourage my brothers around me to do the same.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means making the most out of four years that will leave you and others around you with a meaningful impact that will last the rest of your life. Whether that be in the work you did for your chapter, the International Fraternity, the memories you have made or the connections you have made with your peers but more importantly with those that have gone before you. It is ultimately living "in the spirit of brotherhood". Always.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

I intend to work in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry for a while. I would then like to return and obtain my Masters in Business Administration in Pharmaceutical Management to pursue work for a major pharmaceutical company.

Brother Greenburg is the recipient of the Byron K. Schader Scholarship

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

Joining Zeta Beta Tau was about the lasting friendships and involvement in the community that came with joining such a prestigious organization. I've received more from Zeta Beta Tau than I ever could have imagined and I hope to one day give back.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

My most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory was receiving our charter. I joined Zeta Beta Tau in the Alpha class my first semester on campus and at the time we were only the Beta Zeta Epsilon Colony. I joined because I knew there would be room for me to have a lasting impact on the Fraternity's future. Seeing everyone's hard work pay off by receiving our charter, I was incredibly proud of all of my brothers.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

Thank you. Without the Zeta Beta Tau alumni and advisors, my Chapter wouldn't be nearly the Chapter that we are today. The incredible amount of support and advice we've received has helped us re-charter, acquire a house and grow into the amazing Chapter we are today. Their work and time does not go unnoticed and we're very grateful.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

This scholarship lightens the financial burden that my family and I face and allows me to focus my time more on the academic side of college rather than the financial side. I'm humbled to receive such a prestigious award.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means not forgetting about the Fraternity once you graduate. Once initiated into Zeta Beta Tau, you should always be looking for ways to help your brothers, and anyone in need. Whether through networking, donations, or simple help, being there for one another is expected and shows the true character of Zeta Beta Tau.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

My goal after graduation is to begin work in the business field. I'm currently interning at TripAdvisor this Summer and I am learning an incredible amount. I hope to seek out openings within TripAdvisor and other companies in related fields.

Brother Shuster is the recipient of the Byron K. Schader Scholarship

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

Meeting some of the brothers and really liking the type of people they were. I especially liked what Zeta Beta Tau stands for. While I am Jewish, I am not at all religious but I liked that fact that many of the brothers do cherish their religious traditions. Community service has always been important to me and we had this in common as well.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

The most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory I have is our bid night and I was ecstatic to have this newfound brotherhood. Celebrating with my fellow brothers was an unforgettable experience that I now cherish and hope others can also experience one day.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

I am very thankful for the Zeta Beta Tau alumni that came before me and set the example and the tone for Zeta Beta Tau.  I would want them to know that I really love how it has evolved from a Jewish organization into an inclusive one which has allowed me to really get to know other brothers of different races, religions and backgrounds. I would thank them for making Zeta Beta Tau a well-rounded organization and one that makes education, community service and being a good person in general of the utmost importance.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

The Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship is very meaningful and helpful to me because I have grown up in a single parent family and my mom has worked very hard to raise me and my two brothers alone without help from my father who has not contributed in any way to our family. This scholarship eases the stress on me and my family and allows me to continue to be a Zeta Beta Tau brother.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means that I will always have a network and close relationship with the fellow Zeta Beta Tau brothers in my local chapter where it all began, but also the bigger picture of a prestigious worldwide organization.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

I am looking ahead to a career in the business field and to secure a full-time job before graduation. I would hope that my future includes a family of my own, allows me to maintain the close relationship that I have with my two brothers, my Mom, my wonderful extended family and allows me to continue to be involved with Zeta Beta Tau.

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

I felt a strong connection with brothers not only in my class but the classes above mine.  I saw them displaying leadership qualities and other traits that I hoped to replicate. What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

This scholarship will ease the difficulty of paying for a private college education and motivate me to succeed more academically than ever before.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means that the friendships and bonds that are created will last a lifetime. My fellow brothers are some of my best friends and I plan on fostering these relationships long after graduation. It also entails a sense of responsibility for how I conduct myself after graduation as an alumnus of Zeta Beta Tau.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

I plan on going into commercial real estate after graduation. I want to be able to develop and manage buildings so that I can see the direct impact that I am having on people's day to day life.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

Jacob A. Nabat

Omega (University of Missouri) 2018

Brother Nabat is the recipient of the Alpha Rho-Goldring & Freund Scholarship

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

I am a founding father for the Omega Chapter. Myself and seven others decided to get together and create something much bigger than ourselves.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

My initiation. It was a surreal moment when eighteen of us got initiated after all our hard work with trying to bring Zeta Beta Tau back to Mizzou.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

I'd like to simply say thank you and that we all look up to you. We are such a new Chapter, so getting feedback from our alumni is so valuable to us. When we had our 100th year anniversary celebration and chartering ceremony, we had the pleasure of having many alumni in attendance. Throughout the weekend, myself and the brothers listened to what they had to say and learned from them.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

The impact that the scholarship will have for me is huge. Before this semester, I was not sure if I would be able to afford our Fraternity's dues because of financial aid restrictions. With this scholarship, I'll be able to stay in the Fraternity throughout the rest of my undergraduate career.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means a lot to me. By doing my part of creating the Fraternity, I had the opportunity to tailor the type of men that I wanted in the Chapter. For me, quality men were important because I wanted lasting relationships with all of these guys. I didn't want a social club, rather I wanted an organization where we could all lean on each other during our undergraduate careers and for the rest of our lives.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

After I graduate with a degree in finance, banking, and real estate, I look forward to attending law school in the Chicagoland area. Ideally, I would like to practice real estate law and eventually open my own practice somewhere within the Midwest.

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

I wanted to meet people who wanted to make a difference and I found it when I visited Zeta Beta Tau.  I was especially impressed by their commitment to service to the community. That was exactly what I was looking for.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

My most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory is organizing the Toys for Tots fundraiser.  Not only did we do extremely well in the amount of money and toys we collected, but I learned so much!

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

I wouldn't have been able to join Zeta Beta Tau my first year if it hadn't been for the alumni. I am attending college on scholarships and working part-time jobs and that first year was very difficult financially.  My mother was able to help me with part of the first year's dues, but I didn't have enough to be able to join. An alumnus stepped up and paid for my first semester's dues. His generosity showed me the brotherhood that alumni and undergraduate brothers share and their willingness to help each other.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

Receiving this Zeta Beta Tau scholarship will help me tremendously to pay for tutors and leave more time to study for my courses. I am studying Civil Engineering and also in the Marine Corps Reserves, which requires a lot of time and two part-time jobs to pay all of my fees and bills.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Just as an alumnus I'd never met stepped up to help me pay my first year's dues, the brotherhood of Zeta Beta Tau is always there to help each other in any way they can.  I hadn't asked for financial help but the brothers knew it was a big factor in my not being able to join and they put the word out and someone I didn't even know reached deep into their wallet and changed my life.  I learned so much from my experiences as a Zeta Beta Tau brother, experiences I never would have had, had I not been able to join.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

I have two career goals.  My first goal is to become a Civil Engineer.  I've just completed two of my five years.  My other goal is to become an officer in the U.S. Marines, hopefully as a helicopter pilot.  Once I've accomplished this, I would like to attend law school and perhaps serve in JAG.

Carlos D. Barrientos

Beta Pi (California State University-Long Beach) 2019

Brother Barrientos is the recipient of the Alpha Centennial Scholarship

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

During my freshman year I had only joined engineering clubs and was not very social with other people and wasn't really using any of my skills in a social aspect. In my 2nd year, one friend, now brother, invited me to a couple of the events that the Chapter has to meet the brothers and since then I wanted to join. That week was an eye opener of what it meant to be in a fraternity and the brotherhood that is created between people.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

The most rewarding memory in Zeta Beta Tau was initiation day. Throughout the journey of initiation I was able to the understand the background of this Fraternity and the values that held it strong. The night of initiation was like no other. Brothers were surrounding us, showing unity and support, making it most memorable.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

I would first thank them for the service and effort they contribute to grow Zeta Beta Tau. Since if it wasn't for their contribution Zeta Beta Tau may have not been in the position that we are right now. Whether it is academic or social they have made an impact on how we view each other for the better.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

I will be able to spend a bit more of my time contributing to my Fraternity since the scholarship will be able to fund my education and take some of the load of having to work.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

"Brotherhood" is more than just being a friend. It is a person who would not bother to go out of their way to help you. They are there when you are either having a good day or bad day. Brotherhood for a Lifetime means that if I were to need a brother 5 or more years from now they would not hesitate to come by and be there for me. They would also be able to mentor and advise me if I need it. As well as receiving all this, being able to be there for others will make it a lifetime.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

Currently majoring in biomedical and electrical engineering, with this degree I want to be able to develop affordable prosthesis for people who need them. Before that, I want to get involved with the improvement of the urban education system in my community/country. Since the future of tomorrow would strongly depend on them. Whether it is becoming a teacher for Teach for America or working for a company like the Broad Center, where I am currently interning, to make an impact for the better.

The desire for a greater sense of community and more meaningful friendships is what led me to join Zeta Beta Tau.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

My most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory was when we had candle night and each brother of the Fraternity shared something extremely personal about themselves. This allowed us to get significantly closer to each other and exemplified the brotherhood that our Fraternity had formed.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

I would like to show my gratitude and appreciation to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before me. I cannot imagine a better Fraternity experience and I know I have Zeta Beta Tau alumni to thank for making it possible.

The Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship will have a major impact for me because it will help me and my family worry less about the cost of tuition and allow me to focus more on academics, Zeta Beta Tau, my friends and my other extracurricular activities. I am extremely grateful to the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation for providing it to me.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means that the friendships and connections I make through Zeta Beta Tau will last my entire life. It means that I can turn to a brother in Zeta Beta Tau, now or later on in life, and receive help if needed. It’s unbelievable to think of the reach that the Zeta Beta Tau brotherhood has, even beyond the University of Michigan. It’s amazing to think about the vast Zeta Beta Tau alumni network and consider how I could utilize that network to get a job or pursue my career. Being a part of this Brotherhood for a Lifetime creates unbelievable opportunities for myself and my fellow brothers in the future.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

I am currently studying at the Ross School of Business and I am concentrating in Finance and Accounting. I plan to pursue a career in finance and investment banking. My goal is to work my way towards the Private Equity side of finance and ultimately open my own hedge fund or private equity fund.

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

The openness and genuineness of the Zeta Beta Tau brothers, and the welcome attitude that the Chapter extends made it a comfortable and continually rewarding choice.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

Not only becoming close with all of my brothers, but also the work we have done outside of our Chapter, contributing to our surrounding community and helping tackle issues that our bigger than ourselves and our organization.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

I really cannot express enough thanks and gratitude, because my experience at Zeta Beta Tau is so involved and intertwined with my overall college experience that they are nearly indistinguishable, and it has been an enormous part of becoming my true self.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

It will take a fairly significant financial burden off the shoulders of me and my family, and allow me to focus more on my academic and social agendas instead of having any worry about being able to pay for things like books, rent, etc.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Zeta Beta Tau goes beyond just four years at college. Instead, the relationships formed last forever. They are much deeper than simple friendships as well, truly embodying the definition of a brotherhood and a family.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

Upon graduating, I plan to continue my studies in order to earn either an MBA, a degree in law, or both. I then hope to one day start my own firm dealing in some realm of financial and business, most likely on the legal side of things.

Parker L. Jacobs

Psi (University of Alabama) 2019

Brother Jacobs is the recipient of the Psi Chapter Trustee Scholarship

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

My original interest started with my father's brotherhood in Zeta Beta Tau. When I first visited the Psi Chapter everyone was unbelievably nice and welcoming and seemed to have taken a personal interest in getting to know me. I knew I wanted to be a brother so I could ensure that my college experience included all of these new friends and that I could provide the same welcoming experience for others in the future.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

The most rewarding memory I've had was formal this past January (2017). I had my two little brothers with me there to take in the experience, people who mean so much to me, that I likely wouldn't have met had I not become a brother of Zeta Beta Tau.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

Thank you for being vigilant in keeping the Chapter alive during lean years and your assistance in its revival. Thank you for sustaining a brotherhood of the most welcoming group of people I have ever met. Thank you for instilling exciting events/traditions into my life and allowing my brothers and me to experience them. Thank you for creating the Zeta Beta Tau brotherhood.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

Receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship will guarantee another full year of participation in Zeta Beta Tau. During my senior year of high school my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, is on a medical disability and unable to work. The last few years my family has struggled while relying on my father's income to pay for all of our family expenses. To say that it has been tough is an understatement. The only reason I can attend the University of Alabama is due to scholarships.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means that for the rest of my life, whenever I meet a Zeta Beta Tau, I will know that person's character is one that I respect and appreciate. They will make me think of my amazing years in college, and I will thank them for reminding me of such a joyous time in life.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

I hope to become an actuary and work in either the sports statistics or insurance industries. At the same time, I hope to earn a Master's Degree in Statistics and continue working in one of those fields.

Steven L. Barker

Lambda (Case Western Reserve University) 2019

Brother Barker is the recipient of the Ben & Rose Gross Memorial Scholarship

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

What I learned about Zeta Beta Tau during rush is what lead me to join. Zeta Beta Tau was comprised of a diverse set of men who all seemed to genuinely care about each other and this sense of family and camaraderie is what made my decision.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

Our annual philanthropy event. Putting on an event of this size required the majority of the Chapter and we had to work well as an entire unit to meet all of our deadlines. It was great to see the hours of work pay off and see how much we could help the community.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

I would like to say thank you to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni, who without their experiences and accomplishments, I would not be able to have the same experiences that I have been privileged to have.  I believe as brothers of Zeta Beta Tau our job is to pave the way for the people that come after us. Without a shadow of a doubt, the alumni who have come before me have paved the way for me.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

The Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship will help ensure that I can pay for my education at Case Western Reserve University.  My biggest concern is enough financial support to finish my time in college and this scholarship will go a long way towards helping me complete that goal.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

The obvious answer is to be committed to Zeta Beta Tau and its brothers for my entire lifetime, but what does that mean exactly.  I think being committed means maintaining a certain sense of responsibility both before and after one graduates from college.  I think doing things for your chapter that may not benefit you directly, but will benefit future brothers shows a commitment to brotherhood.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

As a computer science major and a marketing minor I want to be able to identify what problems people or businesses are having and figure out a solution to that problem. I hope that in the future I can use my creativity and problem-solving skills to make a difference.

Clark G Veazey

Mu (University of Georgia) 2018

Brother Veazey is the recipient of the Mu Chapter (Georgia) Chapter Specific Fund

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

I was continually impressed by the open and accepting nature of the brotherhood. I was drawn in by the camaraderie I witnessed between the brothers and stayed for the valuable relationships I formed with those joining alongside me.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

The most rewarding part of my Zeta Beta Tau experience was living in the house during my sophomore year with those who joined the Fraternity alongside me. It was during this period that I truly became a brother not just in name, but in spirit.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

I know it took work; being a part of Fraternity leadership, I can see that now. There's a lot of stress and anxiety and struggle involved with executing goals and running a chapter effectively. I want to thank those that came before me for putting in the work necessary for my Chapter to exist today.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

This scholarship will allow me to continue to support myself as I fulfill my duties as a student, as a researcher, and as a member of Fraternity leadership. Without the generous support of the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation donors, I would likely be forced to secure a part-time job, which would be a detriment to my ability to accomplish these goals. I owe my success to the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation donors who support students like myself.

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means that the journey doesn't end upon graduation; your role in the organization merely changes. As an alumnus, you have the ability to give back and provide the next generation with new opportunities to accomplish great things.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

First, I hope to complete a doctoral degree in cosmology, accompanied by graduate-level research. I plan on earning my pilot's license and moving on to seek employment with NASA. I also hope to eventually publish a philosophical inquiry into the unique reality of the early universe within the schools of metaphysics and ontology. Later in life, I hope to serve the next generation of students as a professor of astrophysics or cosmology at a world-class university.

Said A Bilani

Alpha Tau (Franklin & Marshall University) 2020

Brother Bilani is the recipient of the Herbert Robinson Memorial Scholarship

What led you to join Zeta Beta Tau?

The Zeta Beta Tau brothers made it their personal duty to get to know me as a person. Most importantly, the brothers from Zeta Beta Tau were very keen on the state of their grades and academics, and I wanted to join a group that was going to help bring me up and not tear me down, as I foresaw the other fraternities would have done.

What has been your most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory?

My most rewarding Zeta Beta Tau memory thus far has been the events that were lined up for rush week. From bowling to dinner outings, these events helped me get to know my Zeta Beta Tau brothers and this experience showed the true brotherhood of Zeta Beta Tau and the loyalty that comes with it.

What would you like to say to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni who came before you and made your Fraternity experience possible?

Thank you so much for your leadership, support, and ability to leave a lasting legacy at my alma mater. I draw motivation and encouragement from those that came before me and have forged the legacy that I have had the pleasure and distinct privilege to inherit, and pass on to the Zeebs that will come after me. So, thank you to the Zeta Beta Tau alumni for this legacy.

What impact will receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship have for you?

Receiving a Zeta Beta Tau Foundation scholarship has ensured my college success in positively contributing to my college education and experience, both financially and through the generous support of the Foundation's donor--which I am forever indebted to!

What does Brotherhood for a Lifetime mean to you?

Brotherhood for a Lifetime means a brotherhood that lasts forever, beyond the four years of an undergraduate education. This is what Brotherhood for a Lifetime is truly about, inheriting a legacy, contributing to that legacy, and always being a part of that legacy -- for a lifetime.

What are your career aspirations and goals for the future?

My career aspirations are to contribute and provide opportunities in the lives of others through the opportunities granted to me as a public servant. Whether through my scientific ventures or through contributing to the lives of college hopefuls actively pursuing higher education, my desire is to continue serving my community, and my long-term goal is to serve my country at the pleasure of the American People.
