Through the upheaval of the Vietnam War, the sweeping cultural shifts judging fraternity life taboo, and the thinning of our ranks, a steadfast group of brothers refused to bow to societal pressures. In those dark days of our history, brothers in life and fraternity, Franklin and Stephen Steinberg stood as sentinels, safeguarding our brotherhood for the future.

Before they stepped up to fill these roles, Franklin O. L. Steinberg, Gamma Delta (Long Island University - C.W. Post) 1969, and Stephen N. Steinberg, Gamma Delta (Long Island University - C.W. Post) 1964, founded their chapter and guided the establishment of several other chapters in New York.

With selflessness and unwavering dedication, the brothers worked tirelessly in service to the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, becoming exemplars for the hardest-hit chapters and inspiring the renewal of our brotherhood.

Though Franklin and Stephen have since entered the Chapter Eternal, their devotion to our brotherhood, to which they gave so much and asked for none, endures in their passing. Through their transformational bequest, the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation will continue to serve our brothers now and into the future.

Named in their honor, the Franklin O.L. & Stephen Steinberg City of Light Society recognizes supporters who have committed to leave a portion of their estate to the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation.*
